Born in the village of Golodika. Completed primary school in Komarnim, finished secondary school in Lviv, and attended seminary in Lviv.

Ordained to the priesthood in Przemysl. At first, he was an assistant pastor in the village of Trostyania, in the Nemyriv deanery. Afterwards, Bishop Constantine appointed him chaplain in Przemysl and catechist to a high school in Przemysl.

Arrested in Przemysl and handed over to Soviet authorities; sentenced in Kyiv to 10 years
imprisonment. Exiled to Komi, near Vorkuty, (Siberia)
