The primary goal of the archive is to collect materials on the Greek Catholic Church in the underground (audiotapes with interviews, photographs and documents) applying the "oral history" method.






Seminary, Academy, University. The History of the Founding.
The Theological Academy in Lviv has a complicated, tragic and at the same time glorious history. On the one hand it is a new and unique phenomenon in Ukraine and on the other hand it continues the educational and cultural traditions of the entire Kyivan Church.

Church in the Underground
From 1946 to 1989 the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church (UGCC) was the largest forbidden religious community in the world and suffered many terrible ordeals. In his report on the 35th anniversary of the beginning of religious persecution, Patriarch Josyf Slipyj, head of the UGCC, called his church "the Church of the martyrs."

Video Project
This video project was launched in May, 2002 in order to complete the archive of the Institute of Church History with the narrations of the confessors of the faith recorded on video.
