Founder and director of the Metropolitan Andrey Sheptytsky Institute of Eastern Christian Studies in Ottawa (Canada), he received his bachelors degree at the Papal Urbanian University in Rome and his masters degree in Theology at the Papal University of St. Michaels College in Toronto.
He worked on his doctorate at the University of Notre Dame and defended his thesis in Theology at Saint Mary of the Lake in Mundelein (USA). His specialty is Patristic and Eastern Christian Theology and Spirituality. One of the main themes of his research is the spiritual life of Metropolitan Andrey Sheptytsky. In 1990 he became the first dean of the Faculty of Eastern Christian Theology and Spirituality of St. Pauls University, Ottawa.
In 1980 Patriarch Josyf Slipyj ordained Andriy Chirovsky to the priesthood.
