| Professor of Political Science and expert on Ukrainian Church history of the 20th century, he graduated from a higher gymnasium in Lviv and in 1947 he emigrated to the USA. In 1954 he graduated from the University of Manitoba and in 1956 began work as an assistant professor. From 1969 to 1972 he also worked as director of the Institute of Soviet and Eastern European Studies and in 1969 he was appointed professor at Carlton University in Ottawa. He defended his doctorate in Political Science at the University of Chicago in 1961. From 1979 to 1982 he was a member of the Canadian Institute of Ukrainian Studies. He is the author of numerous essays and monographs, one of which is The Church Policy of the Soviet Authorities in Ukraine from 1918 to 1939. A translation of this essay is being prepared for publication by the ICH and LTA. |
